I have been married to Carol for over 40 years. Moreover, we have two children, one of whom is an ophthalmologic surgeon, the other a farmer.

About Dr. Geoffrey Read

My academic tenure spanned 1980 to around 2004. Additionally, I specialized in hip prostheses and biomaterials, collaborating globally. As a result, Dr. Read pioneered uncemented joint replacements, particularly in hips. Furthermore, Dr. Read is also associated with Medical Legal JHB.

Additionally, in 1980, Dr. Read co-introduced arthroscopic procedures with fiber-optics to orthopedics in Johannesburg. As a result, his career focused on specialized joint replacement surgery. Furthermore, surgery included hips and knees, including revision surgery and specialization in young patients.

I have been deeply engaged in arthroscopic surgery. Moreover, this was well before 1980. I covered various joints including hip, knee, shoulder, ankle and wrist.

Overall, I immersed myself in sports medicine, serving as the orthopedic surgeon for South Africa’s largest football club for numerous years. Furthermore, in recent times, I have cultivated an extensive, highly specialized medico-legal practice. Moreover, catering to prominent law firms nationwide and undertaking defendant work.
